Fridays' four fundamentals

Mental

"Use your mind or be left behind.”

The mental building block refers to the brain. Development in this area enhances the mind’s ability to process available information and make informed decisions. Areas of development so you don’t get “left behind”:

Self-talk – Thoughts that go through your mind.

Emotion – Feelings that originate in the mind and give you impulses to act.

Knowledge – The amount of information you possess.

Education – Acquisition of information which facilitates learning.

Physical

"Sustainability. Use it or lose it.”

The physical building block refers to the body. Building the body entails developing the requisite level of strength, power, speed, conditioning, and flexibility to perform a given task. Elements to increase your “sustainability”:

Nutrition – What you put in your mouth to nourish the body.

Practice Habits – The physical act of practicing your craft.

Rest – Restoring your body through recovery.

Fitness – Strengthening your heart and muscles by conditioning the body.

Social

"Touch the heart, touch the person.”

The social building block refers to people being a priority. This block builds an understanding of how you feel about other people, understanding others’ perspective, and respecting their differences. It builds on the sense and need we all have for community. The elements to “touch the heart” are as follows:

Relationships - Connection with one another.

Community – A group of people who come together.

Character – The essence of qualities we possess that not only affect our lives, but also the lives of others.

Love – Pouring oneself out for another person.
